His political skills got honed while still studying. His strong determination to succeed fighting all the financial difficulties and odds in life made him to be a student leader. He joined the Congress party and has got his recognition with him being made the Secretary and later the Vice President of Karnataka Pradesh Youth Congress Committee.

Being an active member of KPCC, he has served his political party Indian National Congress to strengthening it in Karnataka. In due recognition of his contribution and abilities, he has been made the Chairman of the Legal and Human Rights Department at KPCC. He has been looking after the Legal needs and fighting ably against Human Rights Violations. As Chairman of the Legal and Human Rights Department of KPCC, Dhananjaya keeps busy organising various programs to create awareness more particularly on human rights violations.

Has been also organising political conferences aimed at pondering over the burning issues like corruption in the government, illegal mining, stressing for constituting a bench of Supreme Court in Bangalore.

His political position is being used for making an appeal on behalf of his professional brethren for allocating a fund of minimum 5 crores for advocates’ welfare and reserving separate seat in the legislative council for those practicing law.

Has been nurturing his aspirations to reach higher positions in politics. He did make attempts to contest for Lok Sabha during 2009 from the Bangalore Central Parliamentary Constituency.
